The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the World Wide Fund, WWF and Pacific Islands Tuna Industry Association (PITIA) last month is now officially launched.

Witnessing yesterday’s historical MOU launch is Chairman of the PITIA Frank Wichkam, his Executive Officer, WWF representative in the Pacific Kesaia Tabunakawa, Country Manager of WWF Office in Solomon Islands and other officials.

WWF Country Manager Shanon Seeto said the partnership will enhance the relationship with PITIA to strengthen the Pacific’s tuna industry.

“This MOU brought together two organisations and together we can try to work in one direction to achieve the goal of ensuring a sustainable tuna industry to benefit the countries as well as supports the industry in terms of capacity building or any form of training.”
