The recently formed “Faedem Baek Famili” Association is organising its first fundraiser in efforts to “reunite blackbirded generations of Solomon Islands” with their families in Australia and other regional countries.

The first fundraising drive has been organised for this Saturday.

President of the Association, Cecil Ono says the Association wants to explore and reunite blackbirded generations in Australia, Fiji and Samoa with their families in Solomon Islands.

“With the fundraising this coming Saturday we know that the public should come and help us so that we can find our families who left us for over 150 years ago and just imagine that exercise happened in 1847 until 1904. Looking at this period so many years have passed and now they are survived by their third generation. The main purpose is that our people at that end would like to know their people in the Solomon Islands.”

SIBC News understands Minister of Culture and Tourism Bartholomew Parapolo will be the Guest of Honor at the fundraising event.
