The legal requirement to complete voting by 5pm on the polling day has caused some issues at a number of polling stations says the Commonwealth Group who observed the election process in the country.

Chairperson of the Commonwealth Observers Group, Sir Mekere Morauta says the group observed that some poling stations had too many voters and too few staff to enable voting to be completed in the time allowed.

Sir Morauta adds, some variations in practices adopted by polling and counting officials have also been observed.

However, the group commends the dedication demonstrated by the counting officials.
