The National Government through the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and its National and Provincial Disaster Committees are currently conducting Post Disaster Impacts and Needs Assessments in the Provinces recently affected by Tropical Cyclone Raquel.

In a statement, the NDMO told SIBC News, Provincial based Assessment teams were deployed over the weekend to undertake rapid and detail sectoral assessments to determine the whole extent of the disaster impacts of Tropical Cyclone Raquel.

It says, the Multi-Sectoral Assessment teams includes Officers from various Government Ministries who are members of the National and Provincial Disaster Operations Clusters.

According to the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) assessments are currently progressing in Western, Malaita, Isabel, Choiseul and Central province.

Meanwhile, NDMO has now downgraded the status of its activation from a “Full-on Activation” mode to “Activation on Standby” Mode as Provincial Emergency Operations Centres are now taking the responsibilities in managing the disasters.
