PM SOGAVARE LED GOV’T DELEGATION TO 3rd PIDF SUMMIT IN SUVA

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has led a government delegation to the 3rd Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) Leader’s Summit in Suva, Fiji, today.

A government statement says the government attendance is crucial as this year’s event will see the promulgation of the PIDF Charter by thePeople of the Pacific- formally establish the PIDF as an international organisation.

The PIDF3 will also formally launch under the PIDF Charter, the Regional Development Fund that will finance regional developments.

It will also witness the appointment of the first permanent Secretary General of the PIDF.

Over 200 leaders and delegates from over 30 countries are expected to attend the summit.

The government delegation includes Madam Emmy Sogavare, Mr Rence Sore, Special Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr Melchior Mataki,Permanent Secretary for Environment, two senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one officer from the PM’s Press Secretariat, two Close Protection Police (CPP) officers, Ms Nancy Jolo, who is representing the NGO’s, and Ms Rose Abana from the Chamber of Commerce.

From Suva, the Prime Minister and his delegation will travel on to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to attend the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Summit next week.
