The Commissioner of Police is facing a law suit over claims the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force failed to act on reports of criminal damage to RIPEL Properties.

RIPEL and the Lavukal Trust Board on behalf of the Lavukal people lodged the case last month.

The case is against the Commissioner of Police and all his subordinates.

It is seeking orders from the Court that the Police failed to perform their statutory functions and responsibilities.

It is also seeking a declaration that the Police have failed to take necessary reasonable steps to prevent the commissioning of crime concerning RIPEL Copra and cocoa.

The case seeks an order declaring that the Police have failed to effect arrests or to detain stolen properties.

The final order sought are mandatory orders directing the Police to enforce the law by simply carrying out their policing functions
according to the law.
