The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has reassured the country its investigation into the shooting incident on Ngella Island last year is actively continuing.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast reassured the country during his first media conference for the year in Honiara today.

Mr. Prendergast says while it is necessary to disassociate himself from providing any details on the investigation, he believes a selected task force has been actively doing a joint investigation into the incident.

He says the task force has been working hard through the festive season as the investigation is a top priority for the police.

“That is an ongoing investigation so it’s difficult for me to comment but what I would say is that the task force has been working very hard through the Christmas period, that the task force is making progress and that we continue to resource it with significant resources and we will continue to forward that investigation as our highest priority until we solve that matter.”

SIBC News understands the joint investigation task force consist of forensic experts from the Participating Police Force (PPF) and the RSIPF.
