Trial has continued at the Magistrate Court for the former Minister of Police and National Security, Peter Shanel Agovaka, on an assault charge.

The Member for Parliament for Central Guadalcanal is on trial for one count of assault, causing actual bodily harm, an offence he allegedly committed on 17 December 2013.

A prosecution witness who testified since Friday last week, again took the stand yesterday for cross examination.

The witness told the Court he was sitting under Mr Shanel’s house at Lengakiki when he heard an argument.

He said he went out to see clearly and saw Mr Shanel’s co-accused Steven Wako assaulting a person.

The witness said he took Mr Shanel away and calmed him down.

Both Mr Shanel and Mr Wako were accused of assaulting a man at Shanel’s home when the victim was questioning a promise the MP allegedly made to him in 2011.

The trial continued today.
