The severe North Malaita road condition has gotten worse.

SIBC News stringer for North Malaita,John Andrew Kiri reports students and sick people now have to walk long distances to clinics or schools as vehicles can no longer be used on the current bad road condition.

“With the bad road condition, children are lazy to attend school, even to be late for class at times due to the walking distance and the road’s muddy condition. Most times the children may slip along the way due to the slippery condition, and with frequent rain it became worse than ever. Women also faced lots of inconveniences everyday, especially when walking a long way to the nearest health centre, carrying children”.

Kiri adds, people have risked their lives creating new short cuts and foot paths exposing them to falling coconut leaves and fruits.
