The National Council of Women and representatives from Provincial Council of Women across the country have today ended their two days consultation on a five years strategic plan.

In an interview with SIBC News, President of the NCW Ella Kauhue says the consultation forms part of the strategic plan for 2015 to 2019 period.

She says the consultation is an opportunity for provincial councils of women to identify issues to be included in the five-year strategic plan.

“This is an opportunity for the Provincial Councils of Women especially presidents and coordinators of the Provincial Council of Women to come together and look at different issues, different priorities of the National Council of Women so that they can create their own strategic plans in line with the national plan or their provincial action plans.”

Ms Kauhue adds a strategic plan is important to reflect priority areas for women and other vulnerable groups in our society.

“It is important because this strategic plan at the end of the day will reflect the priorities for women in the provinces that represent the huge population of women and not only that but also other vulnerable groups in our society.”
