Police at Tetere and Henderson, today raided two marijuana gardens in North East Guadalcanal, uprooting over 4,500 plants.

The gardens, which was about a hundred metres in length, had 3,000 harvest bottom plants and 1,500 mid-harvest plants.

The raid was planned with the support of the surrounding communities and a police informant.

A police officer in the raid said locals living in the area were surprised when the police showed up in numbers and surrounded the site.

The officer also said the suspects had already fled the scene when the police arrived.

A statement from the police media unit says it took 12 police officers more than an hour to uproot the 4-thousand plus marijuana plants.

The marijuana gardens were at the Berandeh riverside in North East Guadalcanal.
