The Marist Society of the Catholic Church in Solomon Islands will join other Marist societies throughout the world to celebrate the society’s 200 years of existence.
In Honiara, Priests, brothers, sisters and lay workers of the Society are gathering to celebrate the anniversary with a special Mass at Tanagai, their headquarters, west of Honiara this Saturday morning.
Speaking to SIBC News is Solomon Islands Marist Superior Father Luto Viko.
“This coming Saturday on 23rd July 2016 we will be celebrating the Marist family here in the Solomon Islands, Marist family I am referring to Marist Fathers and Brothers, Marist teaching Brothers who reside at St Joseph Tenaru and the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary in Goldie SMSM we’ll be celebrating this Saturday the 200 years bicentenary.”
The Marist Order begun in 1816 in France and has spread worldwide ever since.
