VACANCY NOTICE – BOARD DIRECTORS OF SIBC

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST TO FILL THREE VACANCIES

Three Directorships of the SIBC Board become vacant at the end of March 2016.

As required by the State Owned Enterprises (SOE) Act 2007 section 24, the Chairman of the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporations hereby calls for expressions of interest from those interested in becoming members of SIBC’s Board of Directors.

SIBC, the national broadcaster, is transitioning toward becoming a professional multi-media corporation that will serve a majority of citizens from different technological platforms and requires leadership at corporate level that can only come with qualified and experienced Directors. The Directors need a background of successful management and leadership in private, public and/or community sectors and the ability to ensure the Corporation complies with the laws and regulations governing its operations as a state-owned enterprise.

The experience needed include a high level of understanding of media communication and its place in society, ability to discuss technology developments taking place and an ability to analyse and contribute to corporate plans, financial information, operation plans and human resource development. A marketing background would be very useful for two of the applicants.

SIBC promotes gender equity and would like to see at least one of the three vacancies filled by a business woman with such experience. Four vacancies have just been filled, two by women and two by men.

Those interested should acquaint themselves with the requirements of the SOE Act and Regulations 2010 (available on website sibconline.com.sb) and submit their expressions of interest with Curriculum Vitae and names and contact numbers of referees to:
