Solomon Islands will be joining other Pacific Island countries in a qualifying basket ball event in Fiji, in December.

The Secretary General to the Federation of the Basketball Association confirmed the country’s participation when he visited as part of his regional tour.

David Crocker told SIBC Sports, this is the first time for the Association to open up the qualifying event to the World Basketball
Championships to Pacific Island countries.

Mr Crocker says a total of ten nations will compete in the competition.

“Proudly we have 10 nations in female and 10 nations in male who are going to come to Fiji to try and win their way through to the World Championships for under 19 men and women. The Solomon Islands I am very proud to say, have put their hands up and organise teams, organise coaches so that they can come and play against the best in the Pacific.”
