A senior female police officer is under investigation following reports that she aided a group of drunken boys who committed arson in Tetupa Village, East Guadalcanal.

One of the suspects has been arrested this week and remanded in custody for further investigations.

The incident happened following the Hovia land dispute issue between the villagers.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau told the local media today.

Mr. Mangau said the female officer was alleged to have provided alcohol for the men who later burnt down five homes in East Guadalcanal last week.

“A female senior and active member of the police has provided beer for nine boys who got drunk and entertained Ketupa village at Guadalcanal plains. The boys were armed with bush knives and chased the villagers. The suspects burnt down five permanent houses and two semi-permanent kitchens.”

They also did damaged vehicles, church furniture, water supply pipes and left with two 070 chains saw,” Mr Mangau said.

Two adults were left wounded during the vicious attack.

Eight boys were still at large and the police officer has been identified and is now under investigation.
