
Acting PM Kologeto welcomes Sweden’s first Pacific Envoy
The Solomon Islands is poised to usher in a new chapter of partnership with the Kingdom of Sweden as Acting Prime Minister Hon. Frederick Kologeto today, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Marina Berg, Sweden’s newly accredited Ambassador to Solomon Islands.
As the first Swedish Ambassador dedicated to the Pacific region, her appointment signals Stockholm’s growing recognition of the Pacific’s strategic and environmental importance on the global stage.
Welcoming Her Excellency Berg, Acting Prime Minister Kologeto commended Sweden’s decision to establish a dedicated diplomatic presence in the region.
The Acting Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Ambassador Berg’s prioritisation of climate change mitigation and resilience -building initiatives-issues that remain at the forefront of the Pacific nation’s development agenda.

Acting Prime Minister Kologeto encouraged increased Swedish private sector engagement, inviting Swedish enterprises to explore partnerships with local businesses in support of sustainable economic growth, innovation, and employment creation.
The dialogue also explored avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation, particularly in climate action, the sustainable development of the maritime and blue economy, women’s economic empowerment, and expanded people-to-people exchanges.
Both countries reaffirmed their shared interest in fostering inclusive growth and strengthening societal ties.
Honiara and Stockholm stressed their readiness to collaborate closely in advancing shared priorities.
Her Excellency Berg underscored, Sweden is taking a serious constructive step toward deeper engagement with Solomon Islands and the Pacific – reinforcing a relationship grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and a collective commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation.
