The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) have successfully carried out a limited rearmament consultation at Burns Creek community, East Honiara last Sunday.

Representatives of the RSIPF, RAMSI and Participating Police Force (PPF) participated in the program.

A government statement says, during the two-hour consultation, RSIPF, RAMSI and PPF officers were able to explain the decision and preparation for the limited rearmament program.

It adds, the limited rearmament consultation is expected to move to the Provinces early next year.

SIBC News understands only certain section of RSIPF including RSIPF Police Response Team (PRT), the Close Personal Protection Unit (CPP) RSIPF officers at the Honiara Henderson International Airport are expected to be rearmed.
