The Don Bosco Technical Institute at Tetere, North Guadalcanal, has marked another success story with yet another rice harvest, which started today.

Speaking to officially launch the rice harvesting week, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Victor Tesun Yu says Taiwan is serious in its relations with Solomon Islands.

He says this seriousness is shown by the establishment of the Taiwan Technical Mission in Honiara, which was instrumental in helping Don Bosco grow rice at Tetere.

Ambassador Yu says he is delighted to witness another success story by the Don Bosco Technical Institute.

“And exactly for that reason I am so delighted today to witness another success story manifested by this beautiful rice field. I know there is a lot of efforts, time put in and most of your sweat but this tells you that “No pain No gain”. When you put in you effort you’re going to enjoy the sweet fruit.”

Meanwhile, the Taiwanese Ambassador encouraged students to adopt a lifelong learning attitude, saying this will help them after completing their studies at Tetere.

Invited guests who attended today’s rice harvesting were from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Taiwan Technical Mission in Honiara, Taiwan Ambassador’s office and Don Bosco.
