The Australian Government has recommended that their citizens serving in Solomon Islands exercise a high degree of caution in Honiara after the Ranadi looting over the weekend.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs says Australians in Honiara should minimise travel at night and follow local instructions in the event of further disturbances.

It says, Political violence, civil unrest and protests occur from time to time in Solomon Islands.

In its latest update, the Australian Government cautions its citizens to avoid any protests, large gatherings, political rallies and concerts as they may turn violent.

SIBC news understands, this message has been re-issued following the disturbances and looting in Honiara over the weekend which resulted in the burning of the Uncle Alick Shop opposite King George School.
