The Australian Defense Advisor for the South West Pacific, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Watson has praised the Patrol Boat Auki team saying they had played an outstanding role during the relief efforts in Vanuatu.

Patrol Boat Auki returned from Vanuatu on Thursday morning after assisting the Government of Vanuatu in its relief work following the devastating destruction Cyclone Pam caused to the country last month.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Watson told the Patrol Boat Auki team that Australia recognises their valuable contribution and their skills and expertise have been put to good use in responding to Tropical Cyclone Pam.

The Lieutenant Colonel said Patrol Boat Auki provided longer support, to more remote communities in Vanuatu than any other single asset.

He said the team should be proud of their achievements as part of  Solomon Islands’ first operational deployment.

SIBC News understands Patrol Boat Auki’s participation in the relief effort in Vanuatu was part of the Australian Government’s Defence Cooperation Program.
