The National Disaster Management Office NDMO has called on the country to be observant on water and food sources as the dry season prolongs.

NDMO recently met with its stakeholders and relevant government ministries to discuss possible measures and assistance if the dry season turns into a drought.

NDMO Director Loti Yates reminds the country to be observant of what is happening as the dry season continues.

“Be very observant of what is going around, that should be a good advice. Do not ignore the fact that water sources are drying up or assume it is usual, no. Some of these are due to changes in our climate, so you must be very careful in how you are using water and manage our waters sources.”

Mr Yates urge relevant government agencies to step in and activate all processes of monitoring the situation for a possible drought
situation.

“I just want to reiterate the importance of the relevant government agencies to pick this up as an issue worth looking at and therefore, activate the processes to ensure that surveillance and monitoring in the sectors can happen.”
