BECHE-DE-MER BAN IN EFFECT 1st MAY, 2015

The general public, marine resource owners and licensed export holders throughout the country have until the 1st of May this year to harvest sea cucumbers commonly known as beche-de-mer.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources today issued a notice, informing the general public, resources owners, licensed exporters of beche-der-mer that the current harvesting period for the sea cucumber fishery shall be closed effective 1st May.

The notice says, there will be no further extension of the opening season for beche-der-mer fishery and all related activity on beche-der-mer must cease before this date.
