Brazil through to the quarter-finals

Wold Cup favorites Brazil are through to the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after defeating Mexico by two goals to nil early this morning.

Two goals in the second half by Neymar and Roberto Firmino ensured the five time world champions progress to the last eight.

Belgium made one of the best comebacks in the tournament so far this morning, coming from two goals down in the first fifty two minutes to beat Japan, three two.

Japan as the last remaining Asian team in the tournament opened the score sheets early in the forty eighth minute through Genki Haraguchi, and scored again the fifty second minute through Takashi Inui.

Belgium scored 17 minutes later through a looping header by defender Jan Vertonghen, fuelling the Belgian comeback.

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini scored the equalizer five minutes later from Eden Hazard’s cross, and winger Nacer Chadli slotted in the winner deep in extra time to secure a spot in the last eight and protecting Belgium’s unbeaten run in the tournament.

Brazil with Belgium will go head to head in the quarter finals.

For tomorrow morning’s fixtures , Sweden will take on Switzerland at 1am, and England will face Colombia at 5am.
