The Joint Civil Society Groups and Concerned Citizens, JCSG & CC has strongly condemned the censorship of CDF funds information enforced by the Ministry of Rural Development.

Information from reliable sources within the system revealed a directive was verbally issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, instructing the ministry staff against disclosing information relating to CDF funds without her approval.

In a statement yesterday, JCSG Interim Chairman Barnabas Henson said the actions of the ministry undermine the good governance that the NCRA Government usually emphasizes.

He said the action suppresses information on constituency development which the public is entitled to receive through the ministry.

Mr Henson calls on the Permanent Secretary to provide publicly explain why such an illegal practice was conducted.

Unified Voice hopes to run a separate story on the Government’s reply on this.
