Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government is committed to developing the country into a unique tourist destination.

The Prime Minister made the statement when the SIVB Board Chairman, Wilson Ne’e and the Visitors Bureau Chief Executive Officer, Josefa Tuamoto paid a courtesy call on him this morning.

At the brief meeting, Mr Ne’e said Solomon Islands has all the ‘right ingredients’ to turn itself into a popular holiday destination and with the positive stance of the Government, the bureau is optimistic of taking the country’s tourism sector to new heights.

In response, Prime Minister Sogavare said, the Democratic Coalition for Change Government is behind the Bureau’s efforts to develop Solomon Islands into a popular unique tourist destination.

He said Solomon Islands is a beautiful untouched paradise and the ‘selling approach’ of what the country has on offer for tourists must be boosted.

Prime Minister Sogavare also expressed the Government is pleased with the appointment of Josefa Tuamotu as CEO of the Solomon Islands Visitors’ Bureau.
