The High Court has convicted a father of two from Ngella, Central Islands Province for the murder of his younger brother, just a day after his trial began.

Judge Stephen Pallaras pronounced the ‘guilty’ verdict, after overwhelming testimonies from three prosecution witnesses in Court yesterday.

The witnesses included the accused’s own wife, his elder brother and another woman.

They all testified that on September 2012, they saw the accused run after the deceased and stab him in the back.

The murder was reportedly a result of a long-time feud between the two brothers over the accused’s own wife.

In his testimony, the elder brother told the Court, the accused was always jealous of his late younger brother and his wife ever since they got married.

The accused’s own wife also told the Court her husband often assaulted and insulted her with her late brother-in -law.

Submissions and mitigation for the sentence will be presented two weeks before sentencing.
