GOSPEL SEGMENT TO KICK START TRADE EXPO THIS SUNDAY

A gospel segment program will kick-start the weeklong trade Expo this Sunday at Bodo field, Chinatown.

According to a tentative program, this Sunday will see businesses doing final touches to their respective stalls and announcements on the weeklong program will be highlighted.

Gospel entertainments will start after 12:30pm.

On Monday 7th, Independence Day, opportunity will be given to women and youths’ to showcase their artistic innovation and creativity.

A media statement from the organising committee says prizes will be given to the best and innovative local product.

It adds, the official opening proper will be on Tuesday 8th July, when the Trade Expo’s patron and Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo will officially declare the opening of this year’s Trade Expo.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Expo, Redley Raramo, says, the country must not rely heavily on external influences to prop up its economy adding, we have to take the initiative and greater task to create a vibrant economy based on our God-given talent, innovation and creativity.

Mr Raramo says, the engine of growth admittedly comes from the private sector therefore, innovative Solomon Islanders must participate and showcase their creativity.

He calls on members of the public to attend the show and be part of the spirit to move the country forward socially and economically.
