The Government will soon be appointing a new Commissioner of Lands.

Permanent Secretary for Lands, Housing and Survey Stanley Wale confirmed they conducted interviews with five short-listed candidates yesterday.

Mr Wale says the five candidates included the current Acting Commissioner and they were short-listed out of ten applicants.

He says the new Lands Commissioner will be appointed in two weeks time.

Meanwhile, the Lands Permanent Secretary says the responsibilities of the lands Commissioner has reduced significantly after the amendment of the Land and Titles Act by the previous Government last year.

He says now the Land Board holds most of the power.
