People of Hauhui in West Are’are, Malaita province have raised concerns over the distribution of constituency development funds in their community.

Chief Michael Ohania told SIBC News, rural people have not benefited from constituency development funds for many years.

He said, voters living in urban areas tend to benefit more from development funds than those in the community.

“You’ll see that most of the grants allocated to the West Are’are constituency are not fully utilized, so any government officer visiting Hauhui village won’t be able to see any development at all in the constituency.”

Chief Ohania adds Government funds should be distributed fairly if it is truly concerned about decentralising developments.
