The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is in full high visibility operation to ensure a peaceful general election next week.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast made the assurance in his media conference today.

Commissioner Prendergast says police are conducting high visibility operation in Honiara till the election of the Prime Minister.

“Our operation to support the National General Election is in full swing, we’re conducting high visibility operations already in Honiara and that will be going right through to December and after the election of the Prime Minister. They’re also being supported by high visibility operations in other provincial locations including Guadalcanal.”

Commissioner Prendergast says, the force prepared adding, a joint responsibility from the community will determine a peaceful election next week.

“So I believe we’re well prepared, we believe the community is supporting the police and we’re grateful for that and I think if we all work together the election should be peaceful.”

SIBC News understands, police will also have full support from the Participating Police Force to ensure a safe and peaceful election process.
