The Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government has appointed a land acquisition officer to undertake a survey on the development of the Suafa Bay economic growth centre and the Suafa international seaport projects.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare made the announcement in his speech during the Malaita Provincial Second Appointed Day yesterday.

He says the government will proceed in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as soon as the land acquisition process is completed.

“In terms of the Suafa Economic Growth Centre and the Suafa international seaport we have appointed an acquisition officer to do a survey and acquisition of the land and at the completion of the acquisition we will proceed with signing of a memorandum of understanding.”

The Prime Minister adds the completion of all legal processes will determine the next step to be taken by the government.

“A completion of the legal process will determine the next step for the Suafa Bay Economic Growth Centre.”
