Police have confirmed the five Temotuans who went missing during the Easter period earlier this year, have been found alive and have been brought back home.

Acting Police Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi said the five people were found last Saturday near the Duff Island, where they were rescued by local fishermen and brought back to shore.

Mr Manelusi said they would be working closely with the Temotu provincial police to provide essential assistance to the victims.

He said the victims were all safe, some however need urgent medical assistance.

“According to our PPC in Temotu, three people need urgent medical attention, that includes a child,” he said.

“They were located near Duff Island, and now they are still in the village, we also understand there is a clinic in the area, where they might get medical attention.”
