Man who wounded victim with knife sentenced to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment
A 28-year-old man has been sentenced recently to two years and six months imprisonment for wounding a 37-year-old man with a bush knife in Isabel province.
The victim and someone were sitting on a boat, sharing stories while waiting for another person, when the incident happened.
While waiting, the defendant walked directly to the boat and falsely accused the victim.
He struck the victim with a bush knife that landed on his left hand.
“The defendant falsely accused the victim of being someone who works at a ship who threw away his bag shell at sea, which is not true,” RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said.
“The victim has a severe wound on his left hand and was later taken to the Buala hospital for medical treatment. After he recovered, he reported the matter to the police for dealings,” he added.
Meanwhile the Commissioner acknowledged the hard work done by officers that resulted in the conviction of the accused.
