POLICE ARREST MEN FOR ROBBERY AND STABBING

A man has been arrested on suspicion of being part of a gang who robbed the Honiara Casino of over 50-thousand dollars.

The robbery happened yesterday at the West Pac Bank in Point Cruz.

Police say two men were waiting near the entrance to the bank and attacked an employee of the Honiara Casino, who was carrying the money to the bank.

The two men took off with the money to a waiting car.

The man arrested is allegedly the driver of the getaway car.

Police said anyone with information about the two youth suspects is to come forward and assist the police investigation.

Meanwhile, in another related story, Police have arrested a man in his twenties at the Mataniko Settlement in Honiara, for severely wounding a young woman, believed to be his girlfriend.

Police investigations say the young man attacked the girl with a knife – stabbing her in her forehead, in both her ankles and her arm.

The young girl was saved by some members of the public who intervened and took her to the National Referral Hospital.

Relatives of the young man reported the matter to the police and he is currently in police custody.
