The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force says comments made by Malaita Ma’asina Forum regarding the selection of a new Police Commissioner was influenced by outsiders, describing it as “unfortunate”.

Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said it is unfortunate for MMF to use the media in efforts to discredit selections for the Police Commissioner.

Mrs Matanga says she was employed by the government and not RAMSI as claimed by the MMF President adding, such comments are not helpful but only affects the work RSIPF for the good of the nation.

“It is unfortunate that the MMF president took the opportunity to go out on media and try to discredit the effort that has been in place. Let me say here that I am employed by the Solomon Islands Government, am not employed by RAMSI. The comment made by the MMF President is not helpful because in actual fact it contradicts the actual work ethic that is displayed for the sake of the RSIPF and for the good of this nation.”

The Acting Commissioner adds, it is better to work together for the recovery of the recent flash flooding than making such comments which are not helpful.
