The Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) is urging Melanesian Leaders not to fall for any Tom, Dick and Harry who claim to represent the interest of the People of West Papua.

Jacob Rumbiak, an Executive member of the ULMWP made the warning in an interview with SIBC.

Mr. Rumbiak explains, there are three other groups currently claiming to be fighting for West Papua’s Independence.

He says these groups are self-centred and are serving Jakarta’s interest.

He stresses ULMWP is the only legal group spearheading West Papua’s Independence.

“One is called the Melanesian Brotherhood, another is called the Melanesian Community Indonesia and one is the Federal Republic of West Papua under President Vokorisia Vosibut, so three groups try to crack down ULMWP witnessed by Melanesian leaders. Another group came in by creating and using a false name only trying crack down the real genuine group.”

He stressed ULMWP is the only legal group spearheading West Papua’s Independence.
