Mewa sworn in as home affairs minister

Member of Parliament for Temotu Nende Constituency Commins Aston Mewa is the new minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Mr Mewa took his oath of allegiance and oath of office in front of the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui at the Government House today.

According to a Government statement, Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela and other senior Government officials witnessed the swearing-in ceremony.

Mr Mewa has previously served as minister for the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services and the Ministry of Communication and Aviation.

He is currently the chairman of the Environment and Conservation Committee and a member of the Bills and Legislation Committee.
