A Solomon Islands ministerial team is in Fiji for consultations regarding the current Solomon Islands educational system.

Pacific Islands News Association today reports, the Minister of Education Dr. Derek Sikua visited the Fiji Higher Education Commission yesterday.

Dr. Sikua says Solomon Islands needs to review its Education Act- crucial in helping to provide a higher education for the region.

He says it is an opportunity to learn from Fiji as Fiji Higher Education Commission was chosen because of the similarities and rich history both countries share.

The Minister says he is very happy to see Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) has gone ahead in setting up its commission for higher education.

Meanwhile, Dr. Richard Wah Executive Chairperson of Fiji Higher Education Commission says the initiative is part of the Fiji government policy to interact with the other countries especially those in Melanesian Spearhead Group.

Dr. Richard Wah adds the commission is looking forward to doing what it can as equal partners in the initiative.
