Guadalcanal provincial police have arrested two suspects, one for a murder case in 2012 at Reko village, Northeast Guadalcanal and another for an arson incident at Talaura village, Tasimboko.

The murder suspect who was finally arrested Tuesday morning this week at his home village at Reko was on the run for quite sometime while the second arson suspect was arrested at Talaura village on Wednesday.

Confirming the arrests in her weekly media conference yesterday, Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga commended the Guadalcanal police for a job well done.

Meanwhile, the Acting Commissioner says the second suspect was arrested and charged for an arson incident on Monday this week.

“The second accused being arrested was a male person and he was charged for arson in Talaura village at Tasimboko and he was alleged to have involved in an arson incident on 1st July and following that report he was arrested by police the next day and I want to appeal to our communities at Talaura, calling on leaders and individuals in and around those areas to assist police and support them to complete this case and ensure that justice prevails.”

The two suspects are now in police custody pending further police investigations.
