The High Court this morning has convicted a husband for causing the death of his wife at Lambi West Guadalcanal in 2009.

Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer convicted the husband on one count of manslaughter after the Court found he had unintentionally caused his wife’s death.

During his trial, the Court heard the man had sat on his wife’s left shoulder causing rupture to her spleen after a domestic argument one evening in 2009.

He was returning from the store where he had gone to get some tobacco and saw his wife sitting in the kitchen.

The accused ran over to her, sat on her left shoulder, then walked away.

The woman cried in pain and ran to a neighbour for help.

She was taken to a clinic but died in the early morning.

The sentencing and mitigation submissions will be presented to the Court at the end of this month.
