The newly elected Provincial Assembly Members for Makira Ulawa province have taken their oaths at the Provincial Assembly Chamber at Kirakira today.

This followed their successful election last month.

Speaking to SIBC’s “Distaem Nao” program today, Provincial Secretary Silas Sitai said nominations for the Provincial Premier and Speaker opens today.

“All the provincial members arrived here at Kirakira and at 10 am this morning they will take their oaths at the Provincial Assembly Chamber. This will be followed by the opening of nominations for the election of the Speaker and the Premier.”

Meanwhile, Mr Sitai said a new Provincial Assembly Speaker will be elected on Monday next week, followed by the Premier’s election on Tuesday.

He says a new provincial government will soon be formed.

“The Executive should be formed by then and the government to formulate its policies.”
