NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER IS WELCOMING NEWS: PPF

The Acting Commander of the RAMSI’s Participating Police Force, Todd Hunter has welcomed news of the new Police Commissioner.

The new Police Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is Frank Prendergast.

Mr Prendergast had a distinguished career in the Australian Federal Police for 28 years in a variety of positions.

He is currently the National Manager Operations Support of the International Deployment Group, overseeing law enforcement responsibilities for security cooperation and capacity development in Asia Pacific region.

Mr Prendergast has visited Solomon Islands multiple times over the course of his career, and has a keen understanding of the country and a deep knowledge of the RSIPF.

Responding to the appointment in a statement, the Acting PPF Commander says RAMSI looks forward to continuing its close partnership with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, under Mr Prendergast’s leadership.

Todd Hunter says the next few years will be critical to the future development of the RSIPF, and there is an ambitious capacity development agenda to fulfill.
