NGELLA MP DIED AT 57, AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

Member of Parliament for Ngella Constituency in Central Province, Johnley Hatimoana, has died after a short illness.

A school teacher by profession, he died last night at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

He was 57 years old.

The late Honorable Hatimoana was elected to Parliament for Ngella Constituency in a by-election on February 27, last year.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, he was the General Secretary of the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association.

In a condolence message to Mrs Janet Hatimoana and her family, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo described the late Honorable as “a close friend and colleague” with “courageous leadership qualities” that led him to be voted into Parliament last year.

Prime Minister Lilo also said his contributions to the country, particular, in the area of Industrial Relations have been immense and will be long remembered.
