Minister for Education Dick Ha’amori says the Government will not seek supplementary funds for scholarships this year following its tough stand to terminate scholarships of poor performing and under loading students.
At a recent media conference, Education Minister Ha’amori said the terminations means the Government will spend only one-hundred and five million dollars on scholarships this year.
Minister Ha’amori also said the terminations has freed up spaces for new students who deserve scholarships.
A total of 3-hundred and 46 government sponsored students were terminated last week.
A number of students who applied for extensions to their scholarships were also terminated.
