The National Disaster Management Office says there is no tsunami threat following an earthquake which occurred around 2pm this afternoon.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 occurred at 2:34pm near New Britain Region Papua New Guinea.

The statement adds, no further updates will be issued unless the situation changes.
