OPPOSITION REITERATES CALL TO REPATRIATE SIG STUDENTS IN PNG

The Parliamentary Opposition Group is reiterating its call for the Government to repatriate Solomon Islands students studying in Papua New Guinea universities as soon as possible.

In a statement, the Parliamentary Opposition Group says whilst the High Commission Office is still awaiting news from authorities whether lectures would resume; the situation on the ground has escalated with the latest clashes amongst students at the University of Goroka (UOG).

The statement says the continuous protests at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG), UNITECH and UOG is very hostile and worrying.

It says hundreds of our students studying in these universities and their safety is paramount adding the Government should bring them home.

Meanwhile, Opposition Group says, the situation in PNG has now gone into its 6th week and nothing has changed.
