Speaker of the National Parliament, Sir Allen Kemakeza could not allow this morning’s deliberations to continue after the opening prayer because there was no quorum in the House.

Sir Allen made the decision after a 15 minutes interval, in accordance with the National Parliament Standing Orders read together with section 67 of the Constitution after the MP for North West Choiseul Connolly Sandakabatu questioned if Parliament has the quorum to continue.

Adjourning Parliament, Sir Allen said, he is concerned about the continuous absenteeism of MPs from important parliamentary duties.

Government businesses which Parliament could not deliberate on as a result of the lack of quorum this morning include- the report on the inquiry into teachers absenteeism and the Honiara short bus route inquiry report.

SIBC news understands, the House Committee was unable to deliberate on the Political Parties Integrity Bill yesterday for the same reason.
