The Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) Leaders Summit will be held in Honiara Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Thirteen Charter member leaders and more than 40 countries around the world will be participating in the forum.

A recent media statement said that the Leader’s Summit oversees the functioning and development of the PIDF and will approve policies, the strategic plan, PIDF budget and work programmes for the years to come.

It adds, Climate resilience and follow-up on the Paris Agreement in preparation for the 22nd Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will remain a key topic of discussion during the summit.

The theme for this year’s summit will be “Stewardship for Healthy Oceans and Healthy Nations.”

SIBC News understands this is the first time for Solomon Islands to host the PIDF Leaders Summit.
