Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast is concerned at the high rate of disturbances in Honiara during weekends.

Speaking during a press conference last week, Commissioner Prendagast told local media there were thirty disturbances recorded recently, twenty of them related to alcohol.

He says this is a concern in Honiara.

“I’m sad to say we’ve reported a high level of disturbances over the weekend. The figures i have infront of me, that in Honiara recorded
over thirty cases, of which twenty cases alone are related to alcohol. And I’ll just ask people to think carefully when they’re going out in
the weekend. If they’re using alcohol, be sensible about how they use it. And let’s try and promote a culture where everyone can enjoy
themselves without impinging on the enjoyment of others.”

Commissioner Prendagast says, these are significant issues communities in Honiara need to work closely with the Police to address.
