Police investigates house burning incident in Central Islands province

Police at Tulagi are investigating the burning of a three-bedroom permanent house at Betikekerao settlement, Central Islands Province recently.

The cause of the incident is not known and police are calling on people around the area to assist police with their investigation.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander for Central Islands Province, Inspector George Mouli said, the owner of the house told his relative to look after the house while he was away to Honiara.

However, the house was discovered to be on fire when the relative who was told to look after it was away for a church program.

“The relative who looked after the house was away to a Church program when the house was on fire.”

Tulagi police have received the report and responded to the incident but the house was already burnt down to ashes.

Tulagi police are still investigating the incident and appeal to the people around the new Mara area to assist with the investigation.
